The Truman Show

May be ten days have passed since the last time I watched a film, as something is wrong is my computer. May be a month has passed since the last time I watched such a good film: The Truman Show.

 In the first quarter of the film, I just don’t know what it’s about, maybe a boring film, I thought. But Truman began to observe the weird world he lived. And the truth comes out in the sight of the spectators. The world is just a show place, a trueman show place.

 Imagine that a man lives in a world that everything is created for him, and all of the world is watching him for 24 hours a day. His first cry, first step on the ground, first kiss are all known by the whole world. But he even doesn’t know anything about it.

 So what’s the film about? It’s about truths and lies.

 Truman doubted the world and tried to make it of getting out of the world he is living. Of course the passage to freedom is tough, with detours and curves ahead. But he does reach the end of his world, after a fierce storm in the ocean made by the man who created the film place.

 The last dialogue between Truman and the producer touched me. I dictated it as following:

Producer: Tureman, you can speak. I can here you.

Truman: Who are you?

P: I’m the creator of a television show that gives hopes and joys and inspirations to millions.

T: Then who I am?

P: You are the star.

T: Was nothing real?

P: You were real. That’s why so many watch you. Listen to me, Trueman. There was no more truths out of there than the world I created for you. Same lies. Same deceits. But in my world, you have nothing to fear, and I better know you than yourself.

T: You never have a camera in my head!

P: You are afraid, that’s why you can’t leave. It’s OK. I understand. I’ve watched you for your whole life. I was watching when you were born. I was watching when you took your first step. I was watching you the first day you are at school. And I saw you lost your first tooth. You can’t leave, Trueman. You belong here. Talk to me.

   Talk to me. Say something. You must say something. God damn it. You are on television. You are lined to the whole world.

T: (a moment later) In case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night.

(smiled, bowed and left)

So what the film is about? Maybe truths and lies, and freedom. Just open a window in yourself, you’ll find a whole new world out of truman’s world.

So much temptation nowadays.Some guy is doing sth. that looks cool, while I am still here wandering. And something like that always happens.

No need to pay any attention to that.Just continue my happy life~~~Wo~~``````

Focus

When I first turn to YM, she asked me, ”what’s your focus?” Then I was stunned to speak anything. I just wanted to learn more. But I didn’t focus anything. That’s where the rub is.

I’m still thinking about that. Vocabulary? Speak smoothly? Get the information quickly on the website? Or in a word, fluency English? That seems too big. And English is a project that consists of listening, reading, speaking and writing. A full improvement can be achieved if you practice listening, reading, speaking and writing. Maybe now no focus is better for me.

But English is my focus now compared with other things I am doing. In the past two years I’ve done so many things but achieve nothing remarkable, because I want more and do many things at the same time.

Focus. I should focus something as a junior from now on, no matter in my academic life or career life.

beautiful life

A beautiful picture comes into my sight that someone is reading below green leaves of a tree and above the green grass, the clouds drifting in the blue sky , the breeze feeling soft and the river slowing passing quietly. That guy is me.

I am on the path of getting a simple life. Just devote myself to English studying, accompanied with other reading about entertainment and IT observation. There should be nothing to worry about. If there is any, it must be created by myself. I made myself busy while feeling empty and anxious. And it’s also me who made myself confused and heavily loaded. It just isn’t something that a young boy ought to have.

I am still young. - always remember this - young enough to spare time for something important in my study and life. Now one of most important thing is English. Thanks to You Mei, who inspires my passion to restart the English learning. It’s time for a new start.

So what to do, if I want to improve my English? I am thinking the question all the time.

And now, I get a temporary answer for myself – just get immersed in English. For the last several days I have been reading blogs written by Americans, browsing famous English website seeking to understand the website and help me to deal with my project.

I’ve been reading the reciting New Concept English, chatting with You Mei who is going home tomorrow (what a pity!). And now, you see, I was blogging in English. I just want to see what a student in English-spoken country see , read the things he reads, write the things he write, and even speak English when sleeping as he does. That is all in my mind that I want to get immersed in the ocean of English. That’s the best way for me now until I find some better one.

And time elapsed smoothly without paying any attention to it. Always we think we are busy and time is too precious to pay for language learning, we think too much of the cost of chance, but is possible to get anything without cost? And we are always talking about “effectiveness”, and there are always articles about the easiest way to be a wonderful English speaker in 1 week or even in a day. But is it possible ? Maybe some genius could, but not us normal creatures.

Sometimes language learning is just a process in which if you don’t care your time, you get more.

And more important, it’s a path to someplace wonderful and itself is wonderful, too. You Mei told me It’s just enjoyable. She enjoys reading as quiet as the breeze and the river in such a quiet campus. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

I did it for several days. And indeed it’s wonderful. I will go on. I believe a beautiful life is right here.

Wow, my new English blog! 

Why do I open an English blog?

 I’ve been learning English hard for a few days and I think I really make a big progress, because I pushed all myself in English, listening English, reading in English and speaking in English ( what a pity that my partner came home ). I was on the net almost for a whole day now, watching videos on Youtube.com and reading feeds in my google reader whose shared item you can see on the right side in my blog. I even want to write in English, which would better my study, and I have been doing it since three days ago in my Sohu blog.  

Why do I choose Blogbus? 

It takes nearly two hours to try several blogs tonight for a suitable one for my English blog, I hate that the Sohu blog doesn’t work well with English lines and it is rather difficult to read English in it, that made me know how important UE( user experience ) is, I think. And it doesn’t support Javascript. Then I searched for other BSP. The first BSP which came to my mind is Blogger, which is owned by google, whose products and services provided are always good, stable and quick. That’s why I like google. But after I created an account, I just found I just can’t open the website. I just can’t. God! The network in SYSU works so well that it stops us from browsing a foreign website! 

Then I tried 163 Blog, which was beautiful but doesn’t support javascript either. Then I came to Blogbus, my third blog. Tow months ago, I tried it for some kind of User Experience, because I thought I was going to design a blog by myself, but failed for some reason. But I could still feel it’s beauty of simplicity and fast. It really is! And to my joy, it supports javascript. Oh, yeah! Then I can post my google reader shared item on it, and things like that.
